Installing a Suspended Beam Over 10 Ft. Long

This page will show you how to install a suspended faux wood beam that is longer than 10 feet.

Try to locate studs in your wall.		Fasten a joist hanger to your wall (you might have to use anchors that apply to your local building codes).		Slide 2x lumber into the joist hanger. This will act as your sub structure.

Secure the 2x material with a screw.		Slide your beam over the 2x material. If it's not a snug fit then you will need to build up the space with wood.		Measure to see how much you will need to build up the negative space.

Screw in wood blocks to build up the gap.		Slide in your beam to do a dry fit to see that is a snug fit.

Use trim head screws (screws with small head) and screw your beam to your substructure.
