Directions for old construction

1.       2.
Cut off mounting flange with any wood saw (band saw, hack saw, jig saw, etc.).
Mark with a pencil where you what to mount your viga tail on the wall.

3.   4.   5.

Mark with a pencil on a 2 x 4 the inside diameter of the viga tail.   Cut the mounting block with a jig saw or saber saw.   Do a dry fit to make sure the mounting block will fit into the viga tail.

6.   7.   8.

Pre-drill the mounting block to accept your screws (this avoids cracking the wood).   Mount the mounting block in the center of your pencil mark on your wall.   Put construction adhesive on the edge of your viga tail.

9.   10.   11.

Slide the viga tail over the mounting block.   Pre-drill the side of your viga tail to accept your screws.   Put a screw through the viga tail (on both sides) making sure that the screw penetrates the mounting block.

12.

Put caulking over the screw heads to hide the screws.
