Description of Custom Reclaimed Antique Beams
Whether you have a country cottage, rustic lodge or elegant townhouse, the authenticity of the actual old barn boards that make up our box beams will add a note of distinction.
Antique wood box beams are made with 100% authentic reclaimed wood. Our reclaimed wood comes from barns all across the country. These reclaimed box beams provide the look and feel of solid wood beams, while at the same time being much lighter, thus requiring less structural support for installation.
Each box beam is carefully hand-crafted with precise mitering to mimic the look of solid timbers. The antique reclaimed wood has a spectacular patina that only actual barn boards can possess. These box beams are specially constructed with supports on the inside. This technique makes them very durable.
Note: All our box beams are made from authentic reclaimed wood. All are unique and may contain nail holes, distress marks, checking, or peg holes. Each beam will have an individual look due to warp, twist, wain and inconsistency of material thickness. This adds to the realism and character of authentic reclaimed wood. Due to the irregularities in reclaimed timbers, the inner dimensions of the box beams will vary. Barron Designs is not responsible for any bodily harm or damage to your equipment.
All material is authentic reclaimed lumber from turn of the century buildings. By using reclaimed lumber, we conserve our natural resources and preserve a piece of American History. All material is hand selected and made with close attention to details. The wood comes from barns, grain buildings and warehouses. The majority of the wood comes in lengths from 14' to 16'. Occasionally it will reach lengths in excess of 20' but this is extremely rare. All surfaces will be rough saw and have beautiful patina and interesting character marks. These marks will create each piece to have a unique look. Nail holes, peg and post holes, worm holes, cracks and other distress marks will be present in all sides. Due to its authenticity, lengths over 12' may require a saw tooth joint. Our goal is to make these saw toothjoints look as authentic as possible. They are part of the interesting story behind the wood itself. Saw tooth joints were used to join timber so they would span the entire length of these majestic buildings of the past.
