Hand-Scraped Box Beams

Our hand-scraped box beams are made by experienced craftsmen. Every square inch of these Douglas Fir beams are hand planed and hewn by hand.

These box beams are constructed using character-grade materials and implemented with period techniques. This gives the look and feel of gracefully aged antique wood. The materials chosen feature knots, cracks and character marks.

Hand-scraped box beams are specially constructed with supports which are placed every two feet in the beam's interior. This technique makes it almost impossible for the beams to come apart. The inside surface is also "kerfed", or grooved to relieve stress and prevent warpage.

Note: Due to the irregularities in wood box beams, the inner dimensions of the box beams will vary. Please be careful when cutting through these beams. There could be nails and/or screws buried below the surface. Use caution! Barron Designs is not responsible for any bodily harm or damage to your equipment.
