Description of Weathered Beams
Reclaimed Barn Wood Beams are made from salvaged wood planks from barns as old as the late 1800s. Often these old barns are torn down and the wood is thrown out, destroyed, or repurposed if it is still usable. All of our reclaimed wood is saved from these barns, which then provides an environmentally friendly and economical way to bring interesting detail and history into your home.
Compared to other reclaimed beams, this weathered wood is special due to the unique tones caused by aging. The wood in these box beams are taken from barns which have had considerable exposure to weather. These barns have stood up to the test of time and faced heavy snow, wind, rain, hail and more.
Not only do these reclaimed barn wood beams have distinct coloring that is the result of years of weather exposure, they are also full of character. Time and weather have gnarled the wood in a unique manner which adds to the beauty when coupled with the cracks, deep grooves, nail holes, peg holes and other distress marks along the length.
Every box beam is completely unique and no two will ever be exactly the same. This incredible touch of history will lend sophistication and character which is hard to find in new woods.
